Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Neutering question

bonnybunny

New Kit
Hello everyone! I've been lurking here for a few days, learning from y'all while I waited to adopt my first bunny. I just got him today. He's a five month old Lionhead and he's not yet neutered. I was wondering if it would be wise to give him some time to adapt to his new home before taking him to the vet to be neutered? Or should I neuter him ASAP? If I should wait, what would be a good amount of time to give him for adapting?

Thank you for taking the time to read/help! ^^

Hi there Bonnybunny! I would give him a week or so unless he is very nervous when a bit longer would be better. Hope your new bunny settles in well.

Thank you, tonibun!! I'm actually very surprised how well he seems to be doing so far – he's not skittish at all and he's happy to come out and look around and be with us. I will give it a week and see how he's doing then. Thank you, again! :)
