Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Not eating caetotrophs or pellets - potential dental? :(

So I noticed a change in Daisy's habits over the last week, she wasn't eating all her caetotrophs and some mornings was refusing her pellets (normally she wolf's them down- has an egg cup in total per day). Hay intake and poop output slightly down. Took her to the vet yesterday to be checked over, vet said he could see small spurs on her teeth which could be preventing her from eating both, he also noticed a small amount of fur matting on front paw, which he said could point to dental problem. He's prescribed metacam to help with pain(which is a mission to get her to take) and said might encourage her to eat more. Wants to see her in a week and if no improvement possibly a dental. What are people's thoughts?

it does sound like could be dental related less food input, the wet matted paws is the chin wet underneath?

No her chin appears dry, so doesn't appear that she is drooling. She is such a nervous bunny and we can't pick her up to check her over 😦which doesn't help with trying to administer the metacam. The excess caetotrophs and not eating pellets happened at same time and all of a sudden. Just so worried!
