  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Runny nose- new bunny

Becks288

New Kit
Hi guys it's the first post I have put on here! I have recently got 12 week old bunnys X 2. New bunny owner! One of which has a runny nose. Is absolutely fine in other ways, eat loads and drinking, running around. Seems very happy.

I am worried this could be snuffles.

Thanks in advance
Becky

It's probably nothing, but I'd get him checked out by a vet anyway just incase. Sometimes rabbits can get respiratory infections from stress caused by moving to a new home etc. This happened with my guy and it can get worse if not checked out x

Thanks for a quick reply. She is sneezing a little too. But nothing else wrong with her just a normal happy bun.
Will try to get her to vets tomorrow.
Xx

If they are not yet vaccinated, you can take them to the vet for them, and get a health check up at the same time :thumb: The vet will not vaccinate if the rabbit is poorly, but it should give you an indication of what the health status is like :)
