The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Sore hocks - advice for bedding

Hello all

Well today we had our yearly checkup/vaccination appointment - good news is his weight hasn't changed, the sneezing has stopped and overall he seems in good health (a couple of Spurs on his back teeth that they want to keep an eye on for now but should hopefully be OK as been told to cut back on the pellets and take him back in if anything seems amis)

Bed news - his hocks have gotten a bit worse. It was raised last year during his yearly appt but they just wanted me to keep an eye on it and make sure it wasn't getting grotty, keep his nails short, make sure everything was nice and clean etc. The good news is they're not awful, but we've been prescribed flamazine (twice a day).

So I'm looking for advice on how best to keep George comfy, my vet said I needed to make sure his cage has a nice soft floor (it currently has straw) and suggested looking at something soft to put under the straw. Just want to know what other people have used (cage is plastic base which I put straw over - but he tends to move all the straw out of the way and sit/lie on the plastic base).

Any tips on what to use under the straw to make it softer, litter changes (currently he's on wooden litter where i scoop out all the poop/wet litter once a day and change it fully every 3rd day - is there a better/softer litter I could use?) or any advice/tips on helping heal his poor little feet?

Thanks all :)

Vet bed underneath and people recommend Supreme supersoft bedding or a thick layer of hay. Litter you could try using fitch with hay on top. My foster bun with sore hocks is on rubber matting with vet bed and hay over the top.
