  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Should i be concerned??

Stiglet

Young Bun
Our bunny who had EC has now developed a bald patch above her tail. She is a constant moulter but there is now a section that has a very thin covering of short fur and none of the long fur. Should i be thinking about a phone call to the vets? Is this completely normal and I'm now just becoming a mad paranoid mother???!! We have stopped grooming her for now. I don't believe it's our other rabbit doing it and i don't seem to be finding clumps of fur anywhere so i'm not quite sure whats happened!

could be going through a bad moult, my bun has bald parts

are there any other symptoms like scratching, or anything else that concerns you? if so then maybe worth a et check, if not I would think it moulting

It could be a moult or it could be mites possibly. A trip to the vet would settle your mind if you don't think it is a moult.

One of my buns lost some fur on her tummy which was strange and no sign of "dandruff" etc. She was given mite treatment by vet and it grew back quickly.
