Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Head tilt bun not eating

Young Bun
I've posted here a few times - sorry to keep bombarding with questions! My bun has had head tilt for 2 weeks now and was eating ok at first but I started syringe feeding her about 5 days ago. She's not even syringe feeding well anymore though. She loved the Emeraid at first and has gone off that and won't really take the recovery plus. I'm worried I'm going to suffocate her if I'm forcing it into her. I've just offered her banana but she's not eaten that or celery leaves. Even if she recovers from the cause of the head tilt I'm worried she's not going to make it because she's losing so much weight. Does anyone have any advice or tips at all to help? Thank you :(

I am sorry to hear that she is struggling. Have you spoken with the Vet again today ? What medication is your Rabbit on at the moment ?

Is she still pooing ?

What about fluid intake ?

It may be that she needs to be re-assessed by the Vet who may want to admit her for intensive care. The Vet may want to add some medications to those already being given. So if you have not already done so I'd give the Vet a call now and update him/her about the current situation and see what he/she advises.

I'm really sorry to hear this :(

There could be several reasons why your rabbits isn't eating - she could be feeling nauseous. Rabbits can't be sick, but they can still feel like it.

Can you talk with your vet about the possible causes, and maybe they could give you something to help her appetite?

Sending vibes. Head tilt is really horrid, I know x

I am sending you and your bunny some positive vibes and I hope you will take Jane's advice and have your bunny re-assessed by your vet ASAP.
