Mr Bennett and Kat chinchilla U/D 12 - embarrassed myself

Nothing serious, Mr B has snuffles and sneezes a few times a day, been ongoing for sometime.

Kat has never needed to go to the vets in 12 and a half years, she is my only chinchilla that never needed treatment. Her eye is weepy and might have a little irritation or infection, only hope it isn't dental as she would need to go to my specialist exotic vet and we wouldn't get any change from £500 after xrays, meds and GA.

Sending loads of good luck for tomorrow. I do hope that Kat doesn't need a dental - that certainly is expensive

She must've heard that Sean has now left :)cry:) and so thought there'd be no point in going in to check him out !!

Give him the old wink.

So embarrassed, I couldn't tell the difference between Little Nylon or Kat in the carrier, so who ended up getting a full checked up ? Little Nylon. Of course there was nothing wrong with her. Realised my mistake and handed Kat over. Kat has a very minor eye irritation, everything else, including teeth seemed fine, although she couldn't see the very back ones but everything indicated they were fine. Have a tube of ointment for her.

Mr B is fine, chest clear, nose clear, eyes clear, teeth fine and put on 50 grams. I really thought it would be more, he eats like a horse. She said to avoid abx or steroids as he only sneezes occasionally and everything else is fine.

Sounds as though it all went well then :D And Nylon got a freebie check-up too

That's good news.

Mr B felt about the correct weight to me when I was honoured enough to be granted a cuddle. He's such a sweetie. I can't believe all the destruction you said he is responsible for - I think it must be the same Bad Bunny who gets Spenser into trouble.

I love the way the chins sleep in a big bundle of fur - sooooo cute:love:

I feel your embarrassment about being unable to tell them apart in the carrier. Parsley and Bramble are both black otter nethies. I got to the vets and they were both hunched up at the back, so I couldn't see who was bigger and in the stress of being there I totally forgot the other ways I tell them apart. The vet said, are they male and female and I only just managed to spot Bramble before they had the indignity of having their bits stared it!

 Little Nylon is Kats daughter, so no bits to tell the difference. The only way to tell them apart is that Kat is slightly smaller and a slightly different eye shape. Even after all these years my OH cannot tell the difference. Easy with Babydarling as he is a beige chinchilla.

we cant tell the difference between Pippin and Peasgood (both full wildie males),

or between two of the 'babies' (the large grey/white lops born here 4 years ago!). We have 6 siblings - but really its just two we cant tell apart!

Thanks, I am glad I am not the only one. They are so similar it is incredibly difficult to tell.

Sorry Jane didn't see your earlier reply. Yes a freebie for Little Nylon, good to know they are all well. They are all getting past middle age now.

Oh dear at the embarrassment! I've been there too- Elphie and Galinda, two blue dwarf lops, and they looked so similar to one another. It took me the longest time to work out which was which- they must have switched names a dozen or more times as babies!

Glad to hear all health reports came back positive.
