Post-Christmas clean

keletkezes

Wise Old Thumper
Did a full clean of the buns' house as we'd been away a week: bun-sitter was awesome though, very diligent! I got a phonecall Christmas Eve and thought 'oh no, not again!' after Lopsy's unknown-cause temperature last year but she was just after the snugglesafe 'cooking time'.

Anyway, before we left we gave them a massive apple branch: we went to our friends' in Silverstone and Matt cut it down because it was 'untidy', so they had an unexpected toy:

"Aw, c'mon, there's got to be more than this?! Or otherwise why are you still here?!"

'Sharing'...

Anyway, today: I've taken to putting paper everywhere now as bunsitter did and it seems to have helped Aboleth's wetness. Here is the hutch (it's an extra space they can go in their tunnel-y warren, not their main base!)

And inside the main house:

The buns have been helping by scattering hay everywhere...

If I don't put the water under there, Lopsy gets in it. I had it half-in, half-out of the bit under the windowsill where it is now and he still managed to jump in it...

I'm about to fill the hanging one up: I just filled the one above the litter tray up with the stuff out of the hanging one!

As you can see... Aboleth's just found a really twiggy bit (she'd alreeady dragged one out of the hanging basket).

They both do this. I know they sit on the top too. I should really mesh it sooner rather than later! Aboleth also grabs the hanging one with her paws and then nearly falls off the stool

Attempting to fill the hanging basket: "I'm helping!"

Still, can't fault them too much, they're good little hay eaters!

They are great photos :D

It's a lovely feeling when it's all clean, isn't it? Shame it doesn't last so long

They have their work cut out with the big branch there ;)

When we got back, we turned it over for the few square inches they hadn't reached and then binned it late the next day as it was all de-barked and well-chewed into the wood! I think they enjoyed it :D It was getting in the way in their little patch of clear run: they don't seem inclined to use the rest at the moment, even though we try and sweep it clean and move the tubes about; they just move the tubes back there and ignore them!:lol:

Managed to get out and clean the only litter tray that needed doing before the rain today: it's spitting and spotting in the wind but nothing major yet. I put an extra window in so their windowsill is protected, but they still have an open window on the door of the playhouse and the ventilation hole at the back so it shouldn't get too musty.

They weren't helping today, they were asking for their version of bunny cuddles (headrubs) instead, so I ended up with flat bunnies:

Aboleth has a loppy ear when she's super-relaxed

Super pictures of contented rabbits  I find that my rabbits really love chewing on branches too and they will stay at it for ages. It's quite surprising just how many different varieties of tree they can have. And of course each variety tastes different (to a rabbit)and therefore some are more favoured than others  Apple has to be one of their favourites. Yes, we do the same and turn large branches so that they can reach the last little bits  None of ours get wasted either, when the rabbits have had their fill, we use it in the kitchen wood-burner. I'm glad the paper seems to have helped Aboleth's wet issue. Aww Aboleth's loppy ear
