Hello all,
We're trying to bond an unspayed female with a neutered male, all seems to be fine up to now, we've had them able to touch noses through cages/runs and all is showing good signs according to what we've read online.
Now the male is fine to start bonding as it has been over 6 weeks since the neutering. When we put them together the female is quite relentless when it comes to humping, sometimes she pushes her head under his and if we stroke them both together they both will lay down and accept the strokes but if we stop stroking them the male will be fine and just sniff but the female with try to hump him and doesn't seem to give up, we left them around 10 seconds but it seemed like she could have been scratching him with her nails when climbing on top of him so we split them up, the male just lets her do it with no running away or attacking back. We are unsure whether or not to let her carry on and hopefully once she asserts her dominance this will stop or is this a problem that will continue until she is spayed?
How should we go about continuing the bonding, she is getting neutered on the 27th but we would prefer to start the bonding process of them being together before that.
