Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Fleece?

I don't have rabbits yet but when I get them I was thinking about using fleece as a 'carpet' in their sleeping area!
Is this safe?
Thanks!
Bye!!!

Yeah fleece is safe, really cheap (especially if you buy it by the yard) and durable, although some buns will chew it! I use it for pretty much all my pets since it's so easily washable and dries in no time. I don't have fleece in my bun cages but they do like to lay on it outside of their cage :)

Yeah I think so

Just be vigilant for chewing. My lot just wee etc on it and it got so dirty and hay coverd that it was a right pain to clean.

They have large litter trays with newspaper straw and hay now.

They sleep on a little 5 foot hutch in their shed or under their wooden shelf unit. They make nests with hay and their own fluff, aww.

I use fleeces for my four but only cheap ones so I can throw them away.
They have tents as hides at the moment (they are indoors!), and I'm thinking of topping the tents with fleeces for extra warmth, and hoping they don't get so wee-filled!
