Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Need to disinfect against e-cuniculi what's best ?

suki

New Kit
We are nearing the end of our 2nd course of medicine for e-cuniluni. Bella had made a good recovery the first time, but 6 weeks or so later she came down with it again. We don't know why, but won't be taking any chances.

We need to do some serious cleaning to ensure Bella dosen't get infected again so what is best ?

Diluted Bleach ?,

White vinegar ( what proportions ?)

Boiling water ? On run ?

Steam cleaning ?

All advise welcome.

Thank you

Thanks, also any ideas on how frequently I should be disinfecting. We are on day 28 mid next week. I really wasn't expecting it to come back after the first time as the vet never mentioned anything about the continued spores, it is only from forums like this I Knew.

Litter Trays - 10% bleach solution.

Surroundings, steam cleaning is best.

The thinking is to disinfect on days 21 and 28 of treatment to coincide with the life cycle of the parasite.

will do, thanks.

What about the weeks that follow ?, i understand the spores continue to be released for sometime afterwards.
