Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Bunny teeth question.

As usual, I check my rabbits health regularly but last week I noticed my does top teeth were overgrown, Ive never had that problem before but as I went to trim them down, one of the teeth was loose and came right out of the gums. I checked rabbit again today snd that tooth has yet to grow back. Bunny is eating/ drinking well and has good weight. So do you guys think that tooth will come back?

you should never trim the teeth yourself because you can cause damage easily to the nerves. it's a real skill of good vets to beable to correctly trim the teeth as they have to be very precise with the length of them otherwise other problems can easily occur. i would advise seeing your rabbit vet to assess the situation and take it from there.

Ive trimmed teeth before....but not rabbit teeth. Ill call the vet.

The tooth fell out before trimming...

Normally aligned teeth on a rabbit with a good diet should never get over grown, for the teeth to look over grown and fall out shows signs of dental disease and/or misalignment of the teeth (malocclusion), definitely see the vet and get them to check the state of the molar teeth too.

I took bun to vet yesterday. He said her diet was good but is having me put vitamins in her water, and has a re- check next friday. I feed manna-pro pellets, timothy hay and vegetable peels occassionally. When we can we give greens out of the lawn.
