Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

First aid box

What dose everyone have in their bunny first aid box. I have large plastic box filled with my guinea pig first aid...but I got thinking is their anything I need that I don't have for guineapigs that I need for bunnies?
If anyone can show me a good bunny first aid link or list me what you have in yours- I can see what I need if I am missing anything and check i have all the things I may need.

Thank you

Jenny

Well I don't really have a first aid box.. But I do have a whole cupboard especially dedicated to my buns;
Currently we have:

Ella's kitchen - Apple
Metacam & tramadol - think the use by date will be coming up shortly.
Spare syringes x4
Critical care pouch
Ear drops for wax build up
Fibreplex
Small tube of panacur
Always have fresh herbs available in the garden

Eek, after looking I actually didn't realise how much stuff we have but intesting thread! xx

wow id never even thought of this - only had our rabbits for 3 weeks! I guess they get more items in as the rabbits age and issues occur.

in danger of hijacking thread, but could someone give advice as to what the minimum contents should be for a first aid box?

thanks for a great thread idea :)

I don't really think much is needed as really nobody should be treating without a vet visit, but I do happen to have:

Metacam
Ranitidine
Emperid

All of which I would only use after disc with my vet

I also have:
Fibreplex
Critical care plus syringe
Countless other syringes
Avipro plus
Pro fibre pellets
Tub of powder to stop nail bleeds (forgot what called!)
Panacur
F10 spray
