Has he had any injections recently? (i.e. vaccinations, or been neutered, or gut stimulants, or antibiotics- esp Baytril)? Equally, has he been with a bunny who has repeatedly mounted him?
He's on his own outside (we are working on that!)...he was vaccinated 3 weeks ago so could be that.
Our friend is taking him to vets tomorrow. ..and bathing the area in cooled boiled water to keep it clean.
He's fine in himself - eating and pooping etc and not bothered by it.
Thank you☺
Off the back of that, I would expect it to be a localised reaction from his vaccination then. Hopefully the vets can prescribe something like Metacam to help with the discomfort and inflamation.
Mimzy had something like that and we'd thought it was a reaction to mites but none were found on biopsy of the site. We also put it down to a possible late reaction to the sub q needles (bunnies get no jabs here) we'd used on him some time before. That seems to be a common site for such things.
Hope his vet visit goes well and he heals quickly. He sure looks to be a cutie, even from this angle. xx

Looks like a vaccination reaction. I seem to be reading about them more and more
Nothing to be done except the cooled boiled water as they are doing. Hopefully it will resolve ... Tell them to keep an eye on it, with the weather being so warm (in places!)
yep agree it's a vacination reaction. sometimes they can be as large as a 2 pence piece and have a very hard surface. Should heal on it's own if left but could take a couple of weeks and just tell friend to check it doesn't get infected in local area so look for signs of pus.. don't let vet give rabbit anti biotics so near to vacs date as could interfere with the vaccine and bun shouldn't need them for this
