  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

My little Bobalob wouldn't eat his brekkie this morning. He had a funny stasis episode about 3-4 weeks ago and did the same, a big fat no to brekkie, that needed 2 trips to the vet on a Sunday for meds.

So work was texted and I got him into the vets this morning. Last episode the vet saw some small spurs on his teeth but didn't think anything too major and he reacted well to meds so we left it at that. Now the spur had apparently got bigger and had stuck him in the side of the tongue. My poor little man! He was eating fine last night with no signs of discomfort. They're such brave little souls. I was going to book him in for a dental check anyway but he beat me to it.

He's now been under GA, had them filed back and is waking up now. I want to give him cuddles. He hates cuddles. But it makes me feel better.

Oh dear poor Bobalob!

However, I'm really pleased he's come through and maybe you'll be able to sneak in a cuddle when you pick him up :D

Awww apparently he's tucking into some apple now, will pick him up a bit later on. Lots of nose rubs later!

He's back to normal! He's on antibiotics as it dug into his tongue and caused an abscess, he'll be back for a check up next Wednesday. But he's back to normal eating everything habits now! My silly little chap. Was anxious about the GA as he's nearly 9 now.

Not a bad age for his very first dental though!
