Watery eye

Molly's right eye has become really watery today. It's been watery before but never quite like this, the fur around her eye is soaking wet.:(

I know it can sometimes be caused by teeth but I don't think that's the case here because her teeth were checked and some Spurs removed very recently. She seems fine in herself, eating, pooping, playing etc it's just this eye. Do you think it could be heat related? I have been doing my best to keep her cool.

Hope it's not the chronic lung disease again, she had a bit of a watery eye with that which we had drops for.

Any thoughts anyone?

It could be a recurrence of the infection she had previously and she may need another course of eye drops. Or she could have sustained a scratch to her eye from something like a stalk of hay. Runny eyes that are related to Dental problems are actually more to do with the tooth roots rather than the crowns. So if Molly has some tooth root elongation that might mean that a tooth root is pressing on the nasolacrimal duct (tear duct) preventing it from draining.

Is Molly still on Depocillin ? I would pop her over to see Gill so she can have a good look at Molly's eye and prescribe treatment if she feels it to be necessary xx

Thanks Jane. Gill checked her tooth roots when she xrayed most of her body in an attempt to diagnose her when she was eventually diagnosed with the chronic lung disease. They were fine.

She is still having weekly injections, we were only there yesterday. I will call Gill in the morning I think.

I am sure that Gill will get Molly onto any necessary treatment for her eye. It may even have resolved by itself overnight ?

Try not to worry to much, easier said than done I know !!

Checked the eye this morning and its dry! Yay! It's so hard not to worry when you love them so much isn't it. Who knew having a bunny would be so stressful and I've only got 1 to worry about.

So pleased to hear that her eye is OK now. She probably just got something in it and all the tearing washed whatever it was away.

Yes, I doubt I would have as many grey hairs if I did not have Rabbits !!
