Avipro Plus

Jack's-Jane

Wise Old Thumper
For those who have asked me this product is NOT a PRObiotic, but a PREbiotic. The formulation of the product was changed due to EU rules on the licensing of PRObiotics. Probiotics are living organisms that can be destroyed by gastic enzymes, so in Rabbits it is questionable as to whether a PRObiotic is going to be of any benefit. A Rabbit's stomach is VERY acidic and likely to destroy a PRObiotic before it reaches the part of the GI tract where it is needed-ie the cecum.

However a PREbiotic is basically a a complex carbohydrate which cannot be destroyed by digestive enzymes. PREbiotics can aid the proliferation of GOOD gut bacteria and also improve absorption of nutrients from the diet.

Having seen the amazing transformation in the overall health of a Rabbit with a serious and chronic GI tract problem after introducing Avipro Plus into his very specialised diet I really feel it is important that people understand the difference between giving a PREbiotic to giving a PRObiotic. The latter is probably not going to do much good, the former most definitely can be an enormous benefit. It cannot be rendered 'useless' by being destroyed by digestive enzymes.

I gave Milo some of this after his stasis on Jane's recommendation, he did recover a lot more quickly than expected and his ''output'' seemed normal very quickly after getting this. x

I've always used this for our rabbits. Otis has it in his water daily as he loves the taste :)

I now buy it in the huge £50 tubs!

That is really interesting Jane. At the rescue we have always used Avipro Plus and while researching info about Vitamin C I read that Vet Ark have changed the Avipro. I contacted them yesterday asking about various situations we have at the rescue and they suggested that ProC Professional should be used in all the situations I asked about.
