Looking for good rabbit vet in Derby/Notts

Hi guys I'm new to the forum.

Looking for some advice about a rabbit savvy vet in Derby or possibly Notts. Can anyone recommend one?

I work at a children's farm and one of our giant buns is poorly. We've already tried our regular vets but they openly admitted that they're running out of ideas for this particular situation and are not experienced with rabbits.

I don't understand why more vets are not familiar with rabbit-specific issues, aren't buns meant to be the 3rd most popular pet in the UK?!

I know a lot of people use Wildbore in Worksop, don't know if that is too far? Hopefully someone will be able to advise. If not, try contacting the rwaf :thumb:

I go to Wildbore in Worksop, but that's north Notts so maybe too far for you.

There are a few other Notts people who live further south than I do, so hopefully they'll see this thread.

If you're nearer Nottingham City there's Castle Vets on Castle Boulevard, immediately south of the city in the shadow of the castle: the main dude is a rabbit specialist and his wife's not so bad with them either. There's also Davison Vets on Ilkeston Road NG7 (Radford way).

Only other one on my list from last August is Ashfield House in Long Eaton :) I would certainly recommend popping on the RWAF site and emailing, asking for a list :) Response times are usually pretty good.

Thank you everyone. I'll check out the locations of those places keletkezes and see if they're do-able. Yes, Worksop is quite far unfortunately. Will also speak to RWAF, I did check their website for recommended vets but the list didn't seem up to date. Fingers crossed we find someone. :)

I went to see a vet recently with my rabbit, she was a new vet to the practice and actually admitted she didn't know a lot about them but was reading up on them, she said they only get one lecture on bunnies in vet school!!

I use vets 4 pets in mapperley and whenever I can I go and see Liz. I'm not sure if she is a specialist but she is the best one local to me for bunnies and I have always been happy.

Also Davison vets mentioned above, I haven't used them but I think they are in west bridgford also if that's easier for you

Not sure how far this would be from you but there's Chine House (LE12) - Craig Hunt there is good and gives us our bunny lectures at uni. Think they do quite a lot of exotics there :)
