I had logged on to the forums last night looking for a thread using Brie's name in the search and came across her original thread in the Rabbits in Need section. We feel like Brie has always been here with us, so we tend to forget she had a pretty terrible start to life http://forums.rabbitrehome.org.uk/showthread.php?283016-Walsall-RSPCA-Brie-Beautiful-female-bunny. We never saw this thread as we had found Brie through the Rabbit Rehome search facility after suddenly loosing Caramel to a fox attack, leaving Biscuit on his own.
We were made fully aware of Brie being nervous due to her her experiences and her potential for nipping but as we do not make a habit of picking our bunnies up off the ground, I felt pretty certain we could offer her the security and loving home she deserved as well as the friend she seemed to crave for.
19th May 2011 - Brie's 'gotcha' day! We brought Brie home and while Biscuit was temporarily locked into the shed, let her explore the garden. Then imagine my surprise when she hopped over to me and snuggled herself into the crook of my arm for a nap!
My middle son has an amazing relationship with her.
A few months later we moved house and for a while our garden was nothing but dirt - Brie loved having the freedom to dig to her little hearts content. Between her and her husbun, they made quite the warren!
Speaking of Husbun, she settled very well with Biscuit. She is the dominant one of the pair, but Biscuit is a grumpy but gentle soul and is happy to be bossed I think!
And for anyone who followed the story of us finding a Stray just before Christmas, we did indeed keep him and called him Smokey. We got him neutered, let him heal and then started the long game - bonding them into a trio. Sadly I have been unable to get a photograph of all 3 together properly but have some snaps of them munching. Brie is now the queen and the boys are her minions.... or so she would like to think!
We have had a few bunnies over the last 10 years but I think I can safely say that Brie has been our most personable and charasmatic. She makes us laugh daily with her antics and she is just an absolute joy, even if she does still nip on occasion, lol!
And one from yesterday!
I think it is probably nice for resuces to see that their hard work is worth it, that there are happy endings. This isn't even the end of our story! Hopefully we have many more years with Brie to come. We can't wait to see what they bring!
