  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Ok so I am panicking AGAIN!
I took Jack to an animal sanctuary today which had

Cows
pigs
sheep
an alpaca
chickens
turkeys
Ducks
geese
a dog

There was poop EVERYWHERE! And cow pats EVERYWHERE! So much so that it was damn near impossible not to tread in some of it.
I was sitting on the bench with Jack eating lunch when I suddenly felt something wet hit my leg and when I looked down I saw it was a bit of runny poop! Freaked out and wiped it with a baby wipe then antibacterial hand gel.
Then when I stroked the cows I got poop on my hand so I rinsed it off with the hose and used antibacterial gel .
Is there anything I need to worry about with anything I took or touched whilst there like Jacks changing bag or the car seats after driving home and the bunnies?
do I need to clean everything and spray the car?

No, none of their poop is likely to have anything in it that normal hygiene wouldn't get rid of. Same goes for all animals really. And they won't transfer anything to your buns either.

I would've washed my hands before I ate and after I got home and that would've been it. I walk in duck and geese poop in my yard everyday and my ducks are always pooping on me etc. Nothing to worry about, a bit of bacteria is good for you.:)
