  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

head tilt

cher

New Kit
does any one know how to prevent head tilt . our rabbit just got over it about a month ago and now we see the symptoms coming back he is on meds but we are have no idea why it came back we are afraid something really bad will happen can any one help? he is 5 years old and otherwide in excellant health help:(

There are many reasons it can return. You say he is on meds, but were they stopped before it returned? What meds is he taking? If antibiotic, it is possible they were able to minimize infection, but not cure it completely, so a new antibiotic may be needed. He may also have an abcess, which is very difficult for antibiotics to get into and cure. Is he treated for EC? Did he have a full dosage of medication (28 days?), or a preventative one(7 days?)? Does he receive an anti-inflamatory? Five years old is not an old bunny, so that should not be a factor.

As Bunny Momma says, there are many reasons for head tilt. These ^^ are the questions I would be asking.

What did your vet say about it?
