Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Wart/pimple like growth in ear?

fpJP5Vl.jpg

I just noticed my rabbit has this wart like thing on his ear, I've tried researching it but can't really find a good answer.

Is it worth going to the vet about?

I'm worried he may scratch it accidentally too. Also it is contagious for me?
Thank you!

Hello

I would get the Vet to take a look, both at the 'lump' and also in the ear canals. It could be the shope papilloma virus

Hi, welcome to RU

You must definitely get your vet to have a look at this at the next opportunity. I have seen this type of thing once before in a rescue rabbit (on arrival at the Centre) and it was a viral wart which turned out to be cancerous. Any abnormal growth or lump on your rabbit, especially around the ear and head region, could be either a wart caused by the papilloma virus, a lipoma, or a fibroma.
