New Kit
Hi I was looking for some advice. My beautiful rabbit gave birth last month to just one baby we had no idea she was pregnant untill we opened her cage and found she'd pulled all her fur out and a little kit was inside a nest. So up untill that day her and her mate had been together we quickly seperated. Now it is 30 days since we discovered her baby and she has once again pulled her fur out and is collecting hay and gathering it and making a nest. She's of her food also and was digging like crazy the last 2 weeks. Should I expect a litter to be born soon or can this just be phantom??
Any advice much appreciated thank you xx

It could be a phantom or genuine. the rabbit doesn't know either way so the behaviour will be the same.

Does she live in close proximity to the buck - can she see/smell him? and entire buck which is detectable can trigger the pregnancy hormones. It is also possible she is pregnant - rabbits can get pregnant immediately on the day of birth but its not a guarantee. I have known a pair go 6-8 weeks before conception of litter number 2.

Once thing for sure, it sounds like bunny definitely thinks she is pregnant...

If the Buck was with her when she gave birth and remained with her for a few hours after then yes, she may well be about to give birth again. Does are at their most fertile just after giving birth.

I don't even know how you'd feel her tummy wen she's fully ready to give birth I don't want to hurt her. She's really on edge.

Just leave her be and observe from a distance. I am assuming the Buck is still separated from her ?

Provide a nest box and make sure she has plenty of food and water available. She will do the rest herself.

Don't try to feel anything this late. If it happens it happens but trying to feel niw will just stress her out and may damage the kits
