  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

bald spots

Angora Girl

Young Bun
My bunny Olaf has bald spots on his shoulder blades and it looks like its spreading, I don't see any red specks on the bald skin, took his temperature, its at 102 so he seems pretty healthy, eating, energetic etc, but as i said it looks like its spreading and i'm getting a little worried. It might be molting but i have never seen a rabbit molt like that. he also did get into a fight with Sven and Sven did take some hair out, but that was a while ago.

so can someone tell me what it is

It's impossible to diagnose a skin problem from a typed description online. There are numerous possibilities, some minor, some less so. The only way to obtain a diagnosis and any treatment deemed to be necessary is to take your Rabbit to a Vet for a full examination. Given that you feel the problem is getting worse I suggest you consult a Vet sooner rather than later

Good luck

I could be anything, one of mine used to pull a little extra out when she was molting.

If there is a history of fighting it could well be that.

Only way to know is visit the vet as Jack's Jane mentioned.
