First Petplan Claim

Sarah1991

Warren Veteran
I never realized how much of a carry on doing the first one is!

I have filled in all of the details but then read that I have to include all practices Milo is registered with and then get a full clinical history from each of them as well!

That means even thought he was treated at Vets4Pets Sunderland I'll also have to get a clinical history from Vets4Pets Hartlepool where he was neutered and vaccinated!

Jesus how much info do they need? I'm dreading asking Vets4Pets Hartlepool for a clinical history as I actually took Milo to Sunderland because I knew they were better with rabbits there, I guess I could fib and tell them I took him there because they were closed on that day (only by an hour or so)

I feel really overwhelmed by all the fuss this is taking to sort out. To make matter worse, Vets4Pets Sunderland are insisting that I bring them the forms to fill in and send off for me! What the point in driving all the way to Sunderland just to drop off the forms? Can't I just send them off myself?

I don't understand why this makes it worse. The vet has to fill in their part of the form so you have to get it to them somehow, post or fax would do it but they have to fill it in, why would you then want to send it yourself?

The clinical history from all vets is a real pain has to be done, sadly. :(

I'm half an hour away from the practice so its a real pain to have to drive all the way there just to drop in the forms, when I asked about faxing them to get them there they said that ''isn't what they do''

I know my vets has a thing about paying for letters for claims and stuff: it's all in the practice leaflet but I've never read it as I haven't insured Lopsy! By the time you've finished running about collecting stuff and paying for petrol etc., it's a toss-up whether it's worth claiming, I bet! Especially if it's only a 'small' amount :S

That's what I was thinking, it'll cost me in petrol running an hour back and forward to Sunderland to hand in forms and to Hartlepool to get a clinical history from there as well! What a carry on.

I miss understood as I thought you wanted to send the form to Petplan yourself. Can't you post the form to the vet instead of driving?

I mentioned that too and got the same answer ''what we usually do is you bring them in and we send them off''

I might ring back and insist that I am allowed to fax or post. Its a right carry on to drive there!

Just post it - when they open their post what are they going to do... send it back and insist you drive in with it? Life's too short to follow rules that have no purpose. It's just nonsense making you take it yourself.

You have my sympathies .........my previous vets always took care of the insurance paperwork for me and I just paid them the policy excess ....... however, I've since changed to a vets who don't offer that service and am dreading having to deal with it myself!

Blimey, my vets sorted all that for us, they rung up our old vets and got the history direct. They also filled in all the forms, all we had to do was ring petplan to give them permission to talk direct to vets. They are a bit pricey my vets but worth it for things like this I guess - they have a specialist insurance team in house.

I didn't send the details, just the vets, if they need the information / medical history, they get the vets to fax it to them direct :D
