Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Bunny died from infection. Can I use cage for another rabbit?

Rome

New Kit
Hello,

My dear bunny lop recently died from infection. I think he was a happy kid and my gf was with him, hence, he wasn't alone during his last moments. Now we want to adopt another bunny. But what should we do with our cage? We cleaned and washed and etc. it but some of our friends say that it is not enough because disease could still be lurking there. Should we buy a new cage or can we use the old one?

Thanks for advice.

The first thing I would want to know before adopting another rabbit is what infection my rabbit died from. Eg was he vaccinated against myxi and VHD, how long was he ill and what did the vet said was wrong with him?
