Anyone had experience with Ark House Vets in Leighton Buzzard?

I emailed the RWAF to seek advice about good vets as I know they have a list of approved vets. The closest one to me is Ark House Vets in Leighton Buzzard. It's half an hour away from me and I have slight concerns about how far away it is if an emergency were to occur. So firstly, how long does it take you to get to your vets? (do you think half an hour is reasonable?!) And have you had any experience with this vet?

There is a much closer vet to me, Elm Farm, which was recommended to me by someone on here but it's not on the RWAF list so I am a bit unsure as to who to choose/what to do!!

Their out of hours service for emergencies is Vets Now MK or Barton-le-clay so if you've got something very time sensitive I would imagine you could go there even if it's not out of hours.

Half an hour is a bit of a trip, you could try quizzing the closer vet yourself - I'm sure there are some good ones that just haven't made it on the RWA list as they aren't aware rather than they haven't passed the test.

Our emergency vets are about that now :( - regular vets 2 mins away. But before we moved it could take up to 30 minutes to get to our regular vets, depending on traffic.

It's not ideal - but if they are very good vets, then maybe worth it.

My vet is about 30 mins away. It's a bit of a pain but worth it for a vet I trust. Plus mine do their own out of hours stuff so I know that I will always be seen by a good vet... Worth it's weight in gold!

I use this vet. I would say some vets are better than others. Unfortunately the exotics vet has left the practice now. Robin is the best bunny vet but he is only a locum covering holiday and sick. Lara is also great. I also like Laura. They are all good at getting specialists involved if they get stuck :)

For emergencies they use vets now in Milton Keynes hemel Hempstead or Barton le clay. You can pick which one is closest. We always use MK as they are great with bunnies.

If you want any other info just shout x

Yes, mine do too.
I wish my cat vet did.

Thank you for your replies and advice. I phoned Ark House and spoke to them about my situation and they were really lovely and helpful. They suggested I also register with a local vet in case of emergencies, and use Ark House for more regular appointments. So I have Winston booked in for his vaccinations at Ark House with Laura for next Wednesday. Then I have registered with Elm Farm Vet hospital which is only 10 minutes away from me and was recommended as a good practice in general, so would hopefully be good in emergencies, they were happy for me to register as an emergency only.

I'm really nervous about his vaccinations. At the last vet appointment I went to with his previous owner the vet manhandled him a lot and Winston was terrified, as was I!!! I mentioned to Ark House that Winston was quite a nervous bunny and needs very gentle handling and they made a note on the system so the vet is aware, which is nice of them! I really hope they are nice and gentle and understanding with him, and me!
