  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Neutering and a new bunny??

Young Bun
My bunny hasn't been neutered but I'm hoping to get him neutered a few days before getting a new bunny- is this a bad idea or will it be ok? Or maybe I should wait maybe a week more until I get a new rabbit. What do you think? :?

you need to wait 6 - 8 weeks for the hormones to settle down after a neuter, then try a local rescue as they'll do the bonding for you and you get to rescue one :)

Hi OP I'm in the same position as you! I'd imagine after a week they wouldn't even have recovered 100% from the operation tbh. Mine had his yesterday and the vet said 6 weeks as above :)
Im really interested in the above post re. rescue centres doing the bonding or even just allowing an introduction to ensure compatibility. How do I find a place in my area?

To find a place in your area, you can have a look on here: http://www.saveafluff.co.uk/rescues
Just type in your post code and it comes up with the rescue centres nearest to you :thumb:
