Rabbits used as "live bait" to train greyhounds.

A truly distressing report was aired on Australian TV last night of greyhounds being trained to kill live bait. They consisted of rabbits, possums and piglets. Understandably this has caused outrage today throughout all media, but with so many such cases they seem to fall out of the headlines all too quickly.

A petition has been organised by one of the best animal advocacy groups viz. Animals Australia, to make sure this is not swept under the mat by those with vested interests in greyhound racing. It would be very much appreciated if you could spare the minute or so it takes to sign the petition to help prevent more of these defenceless little animals being torn to pieces in the most grotesque manner.

Not really related, but helping bump. This sort of reminds me of the guy with the golden eagle I visited in Cornwall: he doesn't hunt with his birds, but sometimes they'll see one and go after it, as is only natural, and he runs his (otherwise lazy) eagle with a greyhound lure. But he did say that if he had a group of rowdy kids he'd dress some of them up as rabbits and see how fast they could run, give his eagle some proper exercise :lol:

But this? This is far, far worse than hare coursing :evil:
