Getting a friend for my nearly 8 year old rabbit.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section. I was thinking of getting a friend for my rabbit who lost her partner last year. I have enquired at one of the rescue centres about a male bunny. He needs to be neutered first, but they are saying after a few days he will be good to go, but I have been reading around and it could be a lot longer than that. What is the correct amount of time to introduce a male bunny who has just been neutered to a female.

Hello

I am sorry that your Rabbit lost her friend last year. Is your Rabbit spayed ? If not then the Buck will need to be kept apart from her for 6 weeks after he is castrated. If she is spayed then I would not want to attempt bonding until the Buck has fully recovered from his op' and his hormones have settled down. Probably about 4 weeks after his castration.

Hi Jane

Thanks for replying and the good advice. yes she is spayed. I will be waiting then until he is ready.
