examples of healthy treats which rabbits enjoy??

Bassdoodle

Young Bun
I want to start to give my rabbits an occaisonal treat but I don't know what I could give them, I know most pet shop ones are no good and full of sugar so don't often buy then treats, what could I give them?

Thanks

Hi  From what I've read on other threads I think a lot of people give fenugreek crunchies as a treat. I'd imagine they're a lot better than the sugary ones you get from pet shops, although I understand they can be fattening if you give too many.

I haven't tried them myself yet - meant to add it onto my last order from the Hay Experts but I forgot.

Mine occaisionally get a bit of banana, or more often fresh herbs
They didn't like fenugreek crunchies but i got some of the oxbow immune support tablets and they get very excited about those
there's also quite a lot of people who make treats from pellets, banana, herbs etc - but I've never tried

My Rabbits love fresh herbs. So things like coriander and basil. You can also buy dried plantain, coltsfoot, mixed herbs

Here are some that are very popular with my Rabbits

I also give mine fresh herbs. They are not keen on the dried ones  They also get banana, fenugreek crunchies as treats.

I also use pro-fibre pellets as treats to supplement their diet.

Mine have always gone mad for dried plantain, which you can buy as a combination of plantain and clover in Pets at Home.

As above, dried plants and herbs often go down really well! As does small bits of fruit/sugary veg such as carrots. If you want some dried treats to give, fenugreek crunchies are great as are anything else from the rosewood/boredom breakers range designed for bunnies, such as https://www.thehayexperts.co.uk/herb-n-veg-drops.html, https://www.thehayexperts.co.uk/carrotys.html, https://www.thehayexperts.co.uk/rootys-crispy-slices.html. Many people feed their rabbits daily pellets as a treat really and just give them in small amounts through the day, so that might be an idea if you enjoy giving treats but are wary of giving too many like me .

Mine adore jerusalem artichoke leaves and stems. Fortunately I have an abundant supply from someone on the allotments who kinda has them as a hedge. They never dig them up so tell me to help myself. So they have them fresh from mid-spring until they go mildewy mid autumn, and I dry a load for winter. I also buy the Burns dried herbs for over winter, one packet of each lasts us a winter.

They get crunchies when they have visitors and fibafirst pellets are their twice daily treat.

I too buy bags of dried herbs and I tend to mix them in with their hay or scatter them around, which keeps them entertained for a bit while they hunt for them!

'fancy' hay or readigrass is always appreciated too.
