Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hi

Tonight i have noticed when cuddling willow that her tummy feels a bit hard?

Shes acting normal and runnning about and eating drinking etc?

I was giving her a wee tummy massage and she was purring

Am i being para about stasis?

Please help :(

What should i do?

search on R U for what people have written about stasis in previous threads. I'm not expert enough to give advice.

Has she slowed down eating at all? Is she still eating lots of hay. Bunnies do quite often still eat in the beginning of stasis but they slow down eating sometimes only eating hay or mostly just eating greens. What about pooping and urinating? Sometimes they will still eat at first but the poops get less and less and can stop altogether. I would keep a very close eye on her in and out put for now.

Hope your bunny is doing ok. I have a bunny who is gut stasis prone for some weird reason. Symptoms in my case normally start with smaller poos and less interest in doing much, the tummy normally only starts looking bloated later (if we don't settle it quick enough) Another thing we notice is she wont settle ie - when she lays down she gets up quickly also when u hold her or get close to her you can hear her tummy gurgle

However every case is different . But in my experience the bunny normally shows signs of less interest in food and the poos and wees become less and less also when one of my other buns had gut stasis he just didn't seem interested in doing anything . Almost like he was a bit depressed
