  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Harley just been neutered but is only doing catastrophes....

Harley (used to be known as Phoebe until we found out he was a boy yesterday!) has just been neutered.

He was a bit down in the dumps yesterday but soon bounced back in his behaviour and is pottering around and eating normally. However his poos has only been Cecils and he hasn't been eating them. Could this just be a sign of the medication or should I be worried?

Are you certain they are all cecotrophs ? Sometimes Rabbits can pass very soft wet fecal pellets after a GA. He may not eat his cecals in the first 24 hours after neutering, this should quickly resolve though. Is he eating and drinking and have you checked his surgical wound this morning ?

His wound seems to be healing ok. Hasn't been licking at it as much as when we got him home on Friday but obviously I can't vouch for overnight. Vets this afternoon to check it out but he seems fine now!

I've only just put 2 and 2 together about it being your Pheobe that turned out to be a boy. Now I know why you said your OH was quite gutted as he loved having his little girl!

I hope he is on the mend and recovers quickly from his neuter.

Got to love a phone auto correct when posting!!

He is indeed on the mend and back to his mischievous self, running around and chewing anything he can get his paws on!! :D
