Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Found "bubble" in bunny "armbit"

Beau Belle

Mama Doe
Hello

I have just discovered what I can only describe as a small "bubble" or "balloon" under what would be my bunny's left armpit.

She is handled daily, so I believe this would have been found earlier, if it'd been there for long. It's not solid, and sort of feels like it could burst if pressed hard enough. It's under her fur, and she doesn't react when I push it. Have you seen this before? Dopes she need a vet?

She's 4 years old, spayed, boisterous and fun-loving. She has good appetite, and good poops as long as we control what she eats (her favourite plantain seems to cause softer tummy if eaten regularly).

She is recently (August/September time) fully recovered from suspected EC - she had full support over the summer and is now back to her cheek self.

I just wonder what this could be?

Thank you

Without being able to feel it myself it's impossible to say for certain. It could be an abscess, a cyst or possibly an enlarged lymph node, to name 3 possibilities.

She does need to be seen by a Vet tomorrow

I have found this before in a rabbit, and it turned out to be an abscess. It was removed with no further problems.

It could also possibly be a cyst, and the vet would then decide whether removal was best.
