Enrichment Scavenger Hunt - Week 1

As you know bunnies need lots of stimulation, but it’s easy to get into a rut with the same toys and environment all the time. So I thought a little challenge might be fun!

Every Wednesday (yes I know it's Thursday today - just pretend) from now until Christmas, I’m going to post an item/task and all you have to do is find/complete it and take a picture of your bunny investigating or playing with it (or completely ignoring it whilst napping – you still get the points for effort).

Note: I’m sure you will, but make sure any items are bunny safe and is supervised where necessary, and if you aren’t sure about something just ask.

Week 1: In between rain showers, I want you to find a non food item from outdoors (and not usually in their run if they are outside) for your rabbit to check out, then post a picture and your bunnies opinion below.

Here is one of Scamp to start things off...

Scamp: I sniffed it from several angles to properly assess it, after careful deliberation I have decided it's a brick. Can I have dinner now?

Thanks, I'm really excited to see what people come up with because it will be good for ideas outside the hunt too :)

Tomorrow would have been fine

That's a very cute picture of Mabel making friends  She does look very suspicious in that first photo though

Good job!

Loving this thread! Wish I knew about it earlier on in the day, I brought the girls children's table and chairs which they were very confused about to start with

Like it. My lot love having new stuff to look at. They often get willow or apple branches but I will try to be more imaginative.

I gave the babies (well, they're probably teenagers now) a watering can. They were all excited to see what I was bringing them:

And then all ran away as soon as I put it in

Emily is the bravest/nosiest, she came over first to see what was going on. Meanwhile, Gabrielle watched from afar and Jenniemouse ran into the hutch and went STAMP STAMP STAMP.

First Emily eyed it up suspiciously.

Then she tried chewing it

Then she scrabbled at it

Jenniemouse then decided that it couldn't be all that scary so she came for a look

And finally Gabrielle explored it too:

Verdict: it's nice to have new things to sniff and examine, but this seemed to be a bit scary. I wonder if they don't like the colour

Aww bless, interesting to see their different personalities/reactions!

I think something like this, as well as being good enrichment, is also good for boosting confidence. The encountered something a little bit scary but it turned out fine - when they have lots of experiences with different new things that all end up fine it's going to increase how confident they are when experiencing any new thing - just like socialising a puppy.

They are such cute little bunnies too

Yes that's a good point, I hadn't thought of it like that.

They started to get so bold with it that I had to take it out because Emily kept on trying to climb inside it and I was worried she'd get stuck

I gave charlie and lola a garden stool....

Charlie: oooh is there any foods on here mummeh?

Nope no foods :(

Hey lola, no foods or treats up here. How about down there?!

Lola: nopes, nuffin down here

After a couple of minutes investigating and scent marking, the ignored it and went off to play in the chewed up box thats been there for a couple of weeks now

But I do need to start giving them new things to do/play with as I tend to get into the same routine

Aww, what cuties! I love the pic of them both investigating as a team

Double trouble! it's like they can read eachothers minds, when one of them finds something new/or that they shouldn't have, the other one - no matter what they're doing, is there straight away!:lol:
