HelpUcover help

Help u cover quoted me £10.29 a month per rabbit with a £50 excess per condition

Pet plan quoted me £13.68 per month per rabbit wotb a £65 excess which im pretty sure is per condition too

P@h quoted me £6.71 but it has a £75 excess and you have to pay 10% of the claim so thats already been ruled out!

Does anyone have any experience with helpucover? Both pet plan and helpucover will pay up to £2000 a year but helpucover is £3 cheaper a month and the excess is £15 a month so Im thinking of going for them...does anyone have any experience with help u cover?
Thanks

I'm with HelpUCover for Noah and Skye, and have claimed nearly £2,000 on Skye's policy this year. They've settled straightaway, with no issues every time I've claimed, have absolutely nothing bad to say!

P@H, whilst they've always paid out, are slow, query everything and last time they refused to pay for some medication as it was in their T&C, I pointed it out it wasn't and could they please reimburse and they said it can take 6-8 weeks (still not got). They also put the excess up to £75 plus 10% and now I can't move the mini buns as they're over 5. Also limit is only £1,500.

No experience of pet plan, they've always been very expensive for me!

I pay I think £6 something for the frenchies, so I'm surprised at your HuC quote to be honest

Thank you! thats great that they paid out practically the full amount they said they would and I like the fact the excess is per condition a year!

I think it might be £10 because they aren't yet spayed but I just got my quote from my vet who will charge £75 per bun so hopefully it will go down once they're done!

I dont know weather to take it out now or wait till they're spayed!

My boy Charlie broke his leg last year and helpucover covered all the bills no questions asked and I was still in the first 14days of the policy (illnesses aren't covered injuries are) it came to just shy of the £2000. Also when it was time to renew in sept it didn't go up at all! I pay £6.25 per bunny. I have no complaints about them

No problems for me, either! Paid out large figures like £700 and £1300 with no problems whatsoever, as well as smaller, regular ones and have always been helpful :) think I pay £7.90 per month.

Personally I'd get them done after they're spayed - saves having to ring them up and update the policy! Plus as you say it'll hopefully be cheaper.

Although that does then mean that, on the off-chance they go into stasis, you can't claim for the treatment.

Thank you everyone

Em89 - thats great they paid out in the first 14 days and very lucky you covered him when you did :thumb:

Does anyone know - if I had to call the OOH vet and they charged me £100 for using them ontop of any treatment, would helpucover pay for the OOH vet if it was deemed needed?

And say if I used £2000 in one go  would I have to pay the vets that and get it back from help u cover...as I certainly dont have £2000 lying around :lol:

They've always paid for OOH for me, it's always been when I've called in and taken my rabbits to OOH though. I think somewhere in the information it says that they don't cover home visits unless it's an emergency (should check that though, I can't remember exactly)

You would have to pay out the money initially then claim it back... unless you can talk to your vets and come up with a solution for you to put in a claim and have helpucover pay them? Maybe print off a claim form and take it to your vets and see if they think they can help you out? Or maybe they can ask for a smaller initial payment and then for you to complete the payment when the insurance pays up? Although not sure if vets will be able to help as they seem to get screwed over by people not paying quite a lot so they're very cautious :?

I've just insured Hiccup and Willow for £7.43 per month each with Help u cover. They are 8 months old and spayed/neutered. I would thing the premium would relate to the bunnies age how old are yours?

Charlie was taken in ooh and that was paid for. As for paying all up front I believe that's to do with your vets practice not the insurance company. The specialists who fixed Charlie's leg claimed for me however the normal vets who did two subsequent surgeries I have to put in a credit card and wait to get paid. I think most vets will agree a payment plan.

I was sooo lucky with the fact they had just been insured when it happened! I was also convinced that I would have to pay about double when the plan was renewed but no!

Thanks everyone

I know my vets deal directly with pet plan so you would literally pay them the excess but they dont say about help u cover
And I obviously dont have the money to pay the bill there and then or I would simply pay it out right instead of insuring them :lol

They *should* cover OOH, yeah. They also have an option to pay the vets directly on their claims form, so that's what we do

I'd only go to OOH if it was generally an emergency so I don't see they could reject that!

If you pay them directly do you just give the form to the vet and they accept that as 'payment' ?

PetPlan are great at paying out, for me, but they put the excess up by £10 every year, so @ 7 years old the excess is now about £90! I don't know if HelpUCover do the same thing or not

Well, ours do. It does mean that they end up then being owed money, which not all vets are happy with, so yours might not! I think it varies from vet-to-vet.
