  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Harley Hairy Knickers is coming home

Fellie

Warren Veteran
My poor girl Harley has stasis and was admitted this evening.
She wasn't eating this morning so hubby took her to vets. Tummy was still soft and making noises so sent her home with critical care and fibreplex.

He got some down her throughout the day but by this evening she was definitely worse so back to vets who have admitted her.

Her poor hubby Bobo is looking so confused. ..although that is his usual expression to be honest[emoji172] .

I hope she is back tomorrow. Even though she is an unfriendly little moo cow..I really miss having her around[emoji26]

Poor Harley  I really hope that he will be feeling a lot better this morning xx

Harley has done okay over night - has been taking her syringed food really well, and has been nibbling at hay and a bit of food - but no poops :( She has been getting guy stimulants and pain relief as well as a matter of course.

So the vets exotic specialist will be looking at her later - and probably do an x-ray to see what is going on inside of her. She is quite bright in herself but obviously the fact she hasn't pooped is a concern. She did do some soft 'grape' clusters yesterday at home (sort of like cecals) but that's it as far as we are aware.

Come on my girl - you are a strong, stroppy little madam and will get through this!

My Harley is coming home this evening :thumb::thumb::D

She could have potentially come yesterday but the vets felt happier to continue her treatment there as she only produced poops on Tuesday night so they wanted to make sure she was 100% back to health before she came home.

She is such a little traitor though :shock::shock: The vet on the phone this morning said "the nurses will be so sorry to see her go - she has been long lovely cuddles with them" - I did check she was referring to the hairy grey thing just to make sure  Maybe she is a changed bun now? Maybe she likes humans now? Either way - I am so happy she has been looked after and loved - but even more happy that she is coming home - and Bobo will hopefully stop looking quite so confused (bless him - he is not is normal happy self at the moment - and keeps looking for her when out of their hutch:cry:).

So pleased to hear that she is better :D I hope that there are no issues with re-introducing her to Bobo xx
