Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Recovery Plus - long term?

Aly&Poppy<3

I've just ordered some Recovery Plus from viovet as our vet (not usual vet as she is off for 2 weeks) gave my bf (he didn't know there was a difference) normal Recovery which Poppy will not touch. I don't blame her, it smells like baby food and looks very odd when made up

She loves Recovery Plus however and since having it (she has had half a sachet every evening since statis started) her poos are a much better colour than before the statis! .. A bit bigger too!

So when the new stuff arrives we will do a few more days with it, but would it be okay to use long term? The Plus smells like timothy hay and she loves it. She can't eat hay so I try and get as much fibre in her as possible and this seems perfect but is it a silly idea?

What pellets does she eat ? Do you have to soften them for her ?

The Recovery Plus would be OK to feed her regularly, but I am wondering if it would be less of a strain on your bank balance to make a mash feed out of Fibafirst Sticks ?

Yeah she has soaked mature SS :)

We tried blending the vetcare digestive sticks and she has been picking at it throughout the evening, kind of like "oh it's there so I guess I'll have to eat it', she didn't have a lot though. The recovery stuff is downed pretty quickly, the vetcare sticks are blended with some soggy pellets too. Surprised she ate as much as she did to be honest but after the first night she ignored it completely so we stopped making it.
I used my bf's card to buy the stuff and he said he doesn't mind  But still, £22 for 10 sachets.. Works out cheaper than the vets by about 40p per sachet

She just isn't interested in this recovery food at all, maybe she'll change her mind once she's woken up a bit more!
