rabbits meeting for the first time

My sister in law has been asked to take her friends rabbit as her son seems to be allergic. She is now looking for another to keep it company. We were wondering if she could put both rabbits straight into a brand new hutch without going through the bonding process? She has a huge hutch (7 ft) but nothing to close off each floor. Can anyone help??

No, I'm afraid they would need to go through the usual bonding process in a completely neutral area otherwise they will fight.

Needless to say, the male and female would both need to be neutered and hormones given a chance to settle down before starting to bond them.

Thanks that what I thought. She knows to get them spayed.

Just to add, if she could get a rabbit of the opposite sex to the one she is already taking on, she stands a much better chance of bonding.
