Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Advantage flea treatment

Hi
I have a 7 week old giant lop who has had her myxomotosis jab but has fleas. The vet has given me advantage spot on but I have already given her a spot on from pets at home does anyone know when I can put the advantage on her? Thanks.

Hi:wave:Welcome to the forum:)
How long does the one you got from P at H say its meant to last for?I would wait that length of time and then maybe another week and then apply if it was my bun but that may be being over cautious.

You shouldn't use it on rabbits under 10 weeks old! (Source: http://www.noahcompendium.co.uk/Bayer_plc/Advantage/-40837.html)

Thought to answer your question - It depends on the ingredients in the flea treatment, as you don't want to overdose her. I would contact your vets and explain. If you're worried, wait a month and flea treat her then like normal.

Thank you for your help. The advantage says on the box for rabbits it will protect for a week. Also the beaphor spot on I have read is not really effective. I will consult the vet and see what they have to say. Thank you again 😀

Yes, checking with the vet is a good idea as you'd don't want to overdose.

If she's still got them, then you can use a cat flea comb to catch them, just have a bowl of soapy water next to you and dunk the comb in as soon as you get one to stop them hopping off.

If you've got any other pets eg cats/dogs then treat them too as the fleas will happily hop between!
