  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

My rabbit hasn't moved since yesterday, he is panting heaven and has gamy eyes (although he has eye problems anyway) he has left some food which is rare and hasn't dashed to his bowl this morning when I fed him, as it's Sunday I'm posting on here to see if anyone has any advise as I'm worried about him, he is only 4years old ????

You need to get him to an emergency vet ASAP. Keep him warm in the meantime, but yes a vet is definitely needed. Good luck x

Hi. It sounds like your rabbit is very ill and needs to see a vet this morning. Not eating or moving in themselves are indicative of something very wrong, even without the other symptoms.

As the others have said, he needs to see a vet asap. A bunny not eating/moving is an emergency and the sooner they are treated the more chance of a full recovery.

If you ring the usual number for your Vet there will be a recorded message giving details of the number to contact for out of hours emergencies. It is extremely important that your Rabbit is seen by a Vet today so I would get onto the Vet now.

Good luck and I really hope that your Rabbit will be OK XX
