  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Got a new bunny c:

Okay so I got a bunny at a state fair and they said he was around 6 wks old.... I was wondering if that was bad... I saw online that it was, but he's 9 1/2 wks now and still alive.... He's a Netherland dwarf and his name is Jack.... Is there any precautions I should take? :? I watch for any change in his poo and I feed him lots of hay... And veggies.... As far as I know I'm doing okay as an newb bunny owner.

40 views and no replies yet, so I'm stepping in.

What are your plans for your little man? Vaccinations etc?

It's because you're not supposed to take them away from mum before eight weeks. If they're still alive, well done you

I know there are different rules for baby buns but I've never had one so will leave it to the experienced bunny owners to let you know what the diet should be

... Hello and Welcome to you and Jack!!!

Your little bun as you say, will love to eat lots and lots of hay to keep his teeth and digestive system working fine!

We'd love to see pics!!

lots of hay, pellets and greens/veggies are a fine diet :) For a small bunny, hay is priority, then some pellets, then a little bit of slowly introduced veggies will keep your bunny healthy :) A lot of space to hop around as well :) Nethies are very sweet and with lots of character, I have one as well and I love her very much:love:

We're waiting for pictures:)

Congratulations on your baby!

One way to keep baby healthy is to provide lots of enrichment in its living environment, if you have a look on the housing section of this site, you'll find lots of fun ideas for both indoors and out.

We like talking about poo on here. His poos should be golden and crumbly (run a search for 'good poo' - you'll be surprised at the number of results!!).

We love pictures on here...;)
