  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Finally booked in with the vets at 7 months!

Aww, just booked Riki rabs in to be spayed (or indeed neutered) for next Tuesday at 9:30 :O :S I was told I would be able to collect the same day at around 4pm, does anyone have any advice for me? Should I set up her old cage or will she be fine in her indoor enclosure and just bring all her essentials closer to her bed? Any advise gratefully received!!

She will feel more settled in her normal area, she mustn't b allowed to jump onto anything. Make sure it is nice and clean when she comes home, keep her quiet and put tempting bits of food in there such as grass, spring greens as she might not fancy her pellets for a day or two. Hope she makes a quick recovery.

Thank you, I'll remove her cardboard castle then! What about her litter tray, it's a cat tray so the sides are quite high, will that be ok?

Up to 3" and she will be ok :). Don't use any shavings as they could get stuck to her wound.:thumb:

So, it turns out Riki IS a boy after all, the vet said he had very small testicles!! (poor little bunbuns). I couldn't believe how bright and lively he was when he came home and eating like a horse as per usual:D Happy to report he has made a full recovery and I think he's forgiven me now:)
