  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

so my vet is treating charlie for EC along with his wifey, Honey. i wanted to know if i should treat my outdoor pair as well?

also when do the spores die off as i usually allow a bit of free range time to both sets(although charlie and honey haven't been out since his bums too mucky and im worried about flies)?

do i need to do a special clean inside the house?

oh and can i use sudocrem on charlies urine scald?

thanks,

so my vet is treating charlie for EC along with his wifey, Honey. i wanted to know if i should treat my outdoor pair as well? Only if they could have come into contact with urine contaminated areas used by the other two

also when do the spores die off as i usually allow a bit of free range time to both sets(although charlie and honey haven't been out since his bums too mucky and im worried about flies)? Spores can remain viable outside of the host for up to 4 weeks

do i need to do a special clean inside the house? Areas that have been contaminated with urine can be steam cleaned if using a 10% bleach solution is not possible

oh and can i use sudocrem on charlies urine scald? Depends on how bad it is, if the fur has been clipped and if there is any active infection

thanks,

Thanks Jane! He had been clipped with scissors so its very short. The scalding lookd to be in the inner thigh/groin region. Its not terrible but quite a deep pink. I might just concentrate on keeping it clean and dry for now.
