Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Constipation problem ?

sunnibunny

Hi everyone, just thought id post this question if something was wrong with my bunny or not. My bunny sits a long time to poop. Is this ok? Is anything i can give to help make her pass easier ? Her poops are fine in both size and quantity as well as composition structure.

Do you mean that she spends a long time sat in the litter tray? Because you'll find that bunny's will spend a lot of time in their trays. If the poos are of a good size and consistency then I think you are fine.
I'm sure somebody more experience will be along with more info shortly though.

Is she straining at all ? Have you checked her rear end for any signs of a problem-eg an anal polyp ?

Some Rabbits can spend a long time in their litter trays, it does not always mean that they have any problems.

Im not sure i could tell if she was straining or not really. It just looks like she is sitting, and sits for ages until she moves away and i see that she has pooped. This is both in her litter tray as well as outside in the grass. I should note that she is preferring to poop outside nowadays, could it be she is waiting to go outside and thus made it more difficult as she waited perhaps? Just checked her bottom, no signs of anal polyp.

Its really difficult to say if what you are observing is normal, but it seems that you have noticed a change in her pooing behaviour so it might be a good idea to get your Vet to check her over. It may be that what you are seeing is perfectly normal. But we cant guarantee that based on a description given online and not being able to see/examine the Rabbit :)

Im going to vet tomorrow for her vaccinations, so will bring it up. Thanks for your information, its good to be prepared with questions in the right area. :)
