Okay so don't get me wrong. I love little Freddie but he has developed this really fluffy skirt around his bum in the last few days and he tracks hay EVERYWHERE !!!! I am a complete neat freak so am getting really stressed with the constant tidying up. I wish I could shave it off. Lol :)

Anyone else have lionheads that go around with half their litter box on their bum ? :/

Trust me - with 8 buns each personally trying to claim the flat as their territory (ie.poops EVERYWHERE!) - and Lenny's little obsession of digging out communal litter trays - a little bit of hay is so not a problem (until I find it in my knickers whilst wearing them :lol::lol:).

I'm like you, Noodles and Nahla leave hay everywhere where it gets stuck in their fluffy skirts. Noodles often has it all over his face too

I too chase them around with a dustpan and brush/the hoover, constantly clearing up the mess

My lionheads are outside buns, but I've found that wood pellet cat litter is the best litter with them, and most hay in racks cuts down on the amount of stuff they get tangled in their manes!

I love wood pellets too. They are great aren't they ? I do keep a layer of hay on top though because I don't change litter boxes daily so I cover the areas that get the most poo and pee with hay.

I do sympathise and it was a relief to put all mine outside for that reason (but I wish they could all be in my bedroom and still have enough space).

I use newspaper straw and hay in their litter trays. Works just great.

I think we need some more pics of Freddie just to check that he is still as cuuuute as ever. Best have some of Rosie too so that she doesnt feel left out.

I have two mini lion lops - Blueberry & my beautiful Badger who passed away suddenly in April

Slipper is also a lionhead x

My bunnies all live in their own room so I don't care, they can make as much mess as they want, they're the ones who have to live on it

Badger was super floofy, he was like a piece of Velcro! I miss him, it was their first gotcha day yesterday, but I can't celebrate & be happy, even for Blueberry, because Badger should still be here

9 of my buns are lionheads. Most at some point have been indoors for a short time and let me tell you the house looked like a hay bomb had hit it! They live outside and have lovely fur trains. Luckily they groom each other and keep each other clean so I don't have to groom them too much.

Is there a chance that this is just baby fuzz and he might shed it?

Bobby was quite fuzzy when I first got him and while his hair remained very thick he only kept the fluffiness on his feetsies and his mane of course !!!

Spenser was advertised as a lionhead cross, but he has developed quote an impressive mane. He doesn't ecactly have a skirt, but he does have what I think can best be described as bum furnishings on either side of his tail. He spends a lot of time arranging and rearranging his mane into quiffs.

Does Timmy still drag hay and stuff around even without the skirt ?

Freddie still has all sorts sticking to him and I am really stressed now about him living indoors. I always said I wouldn't cope with a long haired bun because I am so ocd about my home being clean.

And now freddie has gone and surprised us by becoming long haired !!!

He occasionally gets a bit of hay stuck to him but nowhere near as much. What litter do you use for Freddie? I use wood pellets in their trays and they're great as they're too heavy to get dragged around :thumb: The hay I've just learnt to get used to

Its the hay that drives me mad :( we use the wood pellets too but rosie digs in hers when they get wet and go more powdery. It's really gross but it's manageable because at least it doesn't cling to her fur and stays in her litter box.

But if I bond Freddie with her all that urine soaked wood pellet stuff will just stay in Freddie's fur and get dragged everywhere which is so unhygienic. It would be fine if she didn't dig it up but she does. I have never really minded because it's a digging / litter box. Lol :)

I had freddie inside for an hour free ranging and within 2 mins there was a trail of hay from the hall to the living room. Them he would run back into the litter box and drag more out every few minutes not to mention all the poops that hang off his fur and fall off as he binkies !!!

Prim is so like Freddie !!! I noticed this morning that freddie had a matt on his forehead where his fur is actually the shortest :/

I cut off his skirt earlier in the week and his side fur yesterday but I noticed his hair is long where his poops come out and sometimes they get stuck there.

How do people manage the under side of their long haired buns ?

I think I am going to have a go at his mane today. It's getting abit matted.

His fur is like wool in texture. Is prims ? xx

Prim gets more matted when I brush her for some reason  she's had one mat in her mane that I had to cut out and a couple on her under butt but that's it.
All mine get a twice daily butt grope to check for mats, poo etc as I'm paranoid about fly strike but she's never has anything stuck.

Yes, her hair is very wool like, whereas Cinna & Katnisses is smooth and silky. Freddie might lose the fluff as Cinna was very fluffy and she isn't now.

All three girls are very good at keeping themselves clean and they do groom each other which I think helps, plus they are on hard standing, fitch, fleece and I don't buy the short fluffy hay that sticks to the fur.
