  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

My bunny has nibbled is back and made it sore

Unconformity

Warren Scout
My bunny was nibbling at one spot on his back last night but I thought him to be just grooming rather excessively. This morning he seems to have pulled all the fur out and it looks very red and sore. Otherwise, he seems happy and healthy despite being neutered on Tuesday. He has an appointment at the vets at 5pm anyway for his post op check. Do I need to get him there sooner or that soon enough.

Looks just like an injection site reaction that my Harrys just had.I would recommend a vet visit as Harrys back got very sore in the end.

That's a sore caused by the injection Casserole had one but the other two were fine, I took him back to the vets and they gave me some anti-biotic medicine and steroid cream to help it heal took a couple of days to scab and a couple of weeks and it was gone :)

You might need to put a baby vest or teddy bear top to stop him from licking it some more ;)

It sure gave me a fright when I saw it but he is acting his normal self and has stopped nibbling at it for now. He is quiet at the moment but normally naps about now and was very active earlier this morning. I have rung the vets so they know so hopefully he'll get the right treatment when I take him this evening
