Help:When did you get first vaccinations & how old was your bun when he was neutered?

Hello all

I'm a total newb bunny mum and would like to ask some advice from you guys.

I picked up our bundle of fluff this weekend and he's settling in great in his new home. He's 8 1/2 weeks old and I wanted to get his vaccinations done once he was 12 weeks old. Is that too soon?

I also wanted to get him neutered once he was about 5-6 months old. When did you get your little buns neutered?

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance

Rabbits can be vaccinated from the age of 5 weeks so it will be fine to get it done asap.

My young rabbits were castrated at 5 months old and my female spayed at 6 months old. My other male was 5 when we took him on and had him castrated and my newest male was from a rescue so already done.
Males can be castrated as soon as their testicles drop though.

Thank you!!:thumb:

I'll get on the vaccination case right away. I'll also need those nails clipped too!

Bar 1 of my 6 rabbits I take them to the vets for claw clipping   In my defense one of them can't be handled, another practically hyperventilates and the others have really dark nails
Although I did manage to cut one of my boys claws the other day and saw the blood flow area very well by shining my phone torch underneath

I take Doughnut to the vets too for nail clipping, about every 3 months. They will clip the nails at the vaccination and then when you get him neutured you can ask them to do that too to cut down on the vet trips!

I called the vet yesterday and he's booked in for his vaccination and nail clipping next weekend. I'll be sure to ask about neutering while I'm there

I can't really add anything useful that hasn't already been said, but we got our little boy at 17 weeks (I think) and he wasn't ready to be neutered until a couple of weeks after that and was actually done on his 5 month birthday. The vet will probably advise that you go back in 6-8 weeks to see if he's ready.

Enjoy the baby bunny cuddles - he's a real cutie!
