  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Waiting to make an appointment with the vet for Marble :(!

At 11pm last night I filled her water bowl just before I went to bed. I was up at 1am and the bowl was empty. I filled it again, and heard her drinking it. I recorded her, and she drank a quarter of the bowl in around 20 seconds, went away for a few seconds, came back and drank some more. I've just woken up, and the bowl is almost empty. I'd understand if it was during the day as it's been warm, but it was nice and cool last night and we had a lovely breeze too. Another worrying part of it was, when she lifted her head from the bowl, she seemed to dribble.

I have videos on my phone to show the vet, just hope it's nothing serious :(!

Hope everything goes ok at the vet.

Sending nothing serious vibes x
Thank you! Both videos are around 1 minute 42 seconds long, and looking back at them she drank about half if not more in that time. I hope she was just extra thirsty but need to get her checked!

Nooooo. Not Marble!!!

Let's hope it was just because she pinched some salty food!!

Seriously, paws crossed for her. :)

Vibes for Marble, and hope getting her in the carrier didn't take 15 minutes this time!
Thanks lovely.
No it didn't, she couldn't get under the bed to hide from me

Vet has done a health check and has said she's in perfect condition, they've taken her to try and get blood from the vessel in her ear, if they can't then she'll be admitted to have bloods taken.

Don't panic if she is a bit quiet after bloods, Oliver was really lethargic after he had his done. We couldn't get it from his ear so took it from his neck.

Are they doing bloods to check her liver/kidney function etc?

I wish I could put it down to that, but Marble doesn't pinch food, she's in the bedroom so doesn't get the opportunity.

Just waiting to see if they can get blood from her ear...hopefully they can, don't think I can handle the worry of GA.

They've managed to get a sample from her ear. They're sending it off to a lab to test her kidneys and liver. Should have results tomorrow.
