The Huge Comfort a Compassionate Vet Can Make at Times of Loss

Jack's-Jane

Wise Old Thumper
I really am so lucky to have Vets whom I can trust and who care not only for my Rabbits but also for me. I am a very solitary soul and when I lose a Rabbit there is no-one back at home to offer a hug or any support. I obviously have my other Rabbits, their need of me keeps me going when I would otherwise just crawl into a corner and give up. I cant do that at the moment with 13 other little lives that are 100% my responsibility to care for.

Without my Vets, especially C and Laura, I know for a fact that I would not be able to cope. Yesterday Laura showed such kindness and insight and she treated both Colonel Colin and myself as if we were a member of her own family.

No amount of studying or qualifications can train a person to be compassionate, to genuinely care. That is an attribute that the individual has, regardless of Profession.

I just needed to share that

I agree with you.

I used to have two vets at my surgery that were brilliant with Kermit & then Inca. They always were great and I was in with K & I loads of times!

Now I don't have a vet that I like :(

I wish I could find a vet this compassionate. There is a vet nurse at my vets who seems quite knowledgeable about rabbits and who is very nice and talks you through everything.

I'm not so keen on the surgeon...he is very 'matter of fact' and when I took the boys to be checked for their bits he had a poke and then basically just said ''there is nothing there'' and nothing else...

I had to ask ''So what do I do now?''

And the answer I got was ''Come back when they are 6 months''

No explanation of why they weren't there or when they usually come or what happens if they don't come anything...I had to learn what I know from RU.

I rang and asked for the vet nurse and she talked me though everything, I tend to ask for her now..

They have obviously found the true true vocation for them... Caring . Its good to hear they're there for you..

Hugs

I met with Christobel yesterday. A very kind and caring person and an excellent vet :D

I am so sorry for your loss

That is why I had to take Cutie pie back there. They really cared about Cutie-pie. I didn't get that at all from the specialist practice, except the vet.

Sending a hug to you Jane. It must have been very hard to say goodbye to The Colonel.

It is nice to share the good things (albeit at a very sad time) that make a difference to us. You are very lucky to have such competent and very caring vets who not only care about the animals but also their owners. Hugs xxx

Although I havent had to take the buns there yet, my vets are very lovely. When my dobermann was ill and had to have her spleen removed as an emergency, the receptionist rang me in the evening to make sure I was ok and to ask if I needed to ask any questions. She had finished work, but said she would find out if I needed any info. That made a huge difference to a very difficult time
